The Hunger Games

Hello, y'all this is my first post on my new blog....congratulations to me. I figured since my blog name was inspired by the Hunger Games I figured my first post should be about that. In case you don't know...sorry I'm not going to explain what the book is about. I suggest you go find someone who will.

One of the main symbolic things in the Hunger Games (the entire series) is a bird called a mockingjay. It's a type of bird that came from a mockingbird, a bird with a habit of singing other birds' songs they hear and a hybrid species called a jabberjay, a bird designed to copy and then repeat conversations they hear (a made-up species in the story). The result of the two is a mockingjay, a bird that will repeat any sound they hear. A person sings a song, one mockingjay will copy it, and soon all of the mockingjays in the forest will be singing the same song. The idea of this mockingjay is that once an idea of rebellion is created, the mockingjay will spread it throughout the kingdom. Something to think about...

I mentioned in my blog description that Peeta is my most favorite character in the Hunger Games. Peeta is the kindest, most wonderful person I could possibly imagine. Katniss, you don't deserve him. You don't deserve Gale either, but he left you so we can set that aside. Peeta had to go through so much in the last book, and yet he still came through in the end as the guy that Katniss can count on. A guy you would want chasing you ladies? Most definitely. My point being, you don't find people like that anymore. Turn on the TV and watch that trash that we watch and seem to enjoy. Go to school and then come back and tell me how many times you heard somebody curse. Look at how we're portraying women these days. Stand up for yourselves girls, you're being trashed! Now, I'm not going to say that I haven't any part in any of this at all, I'm sure we all have. I wish I could say that "One little thing you do will make a difference" but the truth is, you can try to distance yourself from all of the garbage out in the world, but the moment you turn a corner you're going to see something else. I've traveled awfully far from my original topic but let me just circle back by saying- yeah, so I pray every night that I will fall in love with a really good guy, but right now the only place I'm finding people to fall in love with is in books.

You might not agree with anything I've just written in that last paragraph, but I'm not here to tell you how to think. I'm not even sure if I agree with what I just wrote down. I'm not going to change it though, because that's what I was thinking when I wrote it down so that's what I'm posting. Think about it...
